1916 NETCO Hose Wagon
Owner: Jeffery A. Trevas
Tucson, AZ
The
New England Truck Company of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, built commercial trucks
with components from a variety of manufacturers. This 1916 NETCO was delivered
to the nearby Worcester Fire Department as a Model F chassis at a cost of
$2,450, and was completed by the department as a Hose Wagon. Powered by a
Continental 477-cu.in. straight-six, with a 4-speed Brown Lipe transmission
installed during a 1930's retrofit, its original engine was a Continental four
cylinder. In addition to 500-600 feet of 2-1/2" hose, it has a PTO 75gpm
rotary gear pump and 30-gallon water tank. Few trucks were built on NETCO
chassis, and this Hose Truck, believed decommissioned during the mid-1950's, is
the only known example in restored condition.
